Chuck Myers

I grew up going to camp, I’ve worked at camps, served as the director of a Christian camp and am currently a small business owner, pastor and a corporate consultant.  Of all of these experiences, nothing has impacted me like the incredible work of Christian camp ministry.

My heart's desire is to come alongside those serving on the frontlines of Christian camp ministry, to provide them the support needed to be healthy and to minister effectively.  These are my people!  Those who are showing others who Jesus is through this vehicle called Christian camps.

I don’t think there is a better way to reach people - especially kids - in our culture for the Lord than the Christian camp environment.  I’m for that!  And, because I’m for that, I’m for you - the Christian camp leader.  I want to serve you the best way that I can to help you be the best that you can be.

Christian camps face a unique set of challenges, and I want to use my understanding of those challenges to help solve problems, support staff and see camp ministries flourish.

I’m married to Ruth - the girl of my dreams.  Together, we have four wonderful children and a growing list of grandchildren.

I wasn’t very old the first time I experienced Christian camp.  I remember sitting in a crowd beside my mom and dad.  A speaker handed out small squares of paper to everyone, then invited them to fix their paper onto the nails of a nearby cross.  Even though I couldn’t understand what was happening at the time, a visual of the forgiveness of sin offered through Christ was being committed to my memory.  And, it happened at camp!

I think that a foundational awareness was built in me that night.  Awareness for the incredible grace of God through Christ.  And, awareness of the powerful impact of camp ministry.  I would go on to spend high school and college summers working in Christian camp ministry.  Eventually I served full-time on Christian camp leadership teams in VA and NC.  Lately, I served Christian camps all over the country from a leadership position here in CO.

My family shares my love of Christian camp ministry.  My wife, Michelle, has been an incredible ministry partner to me in Christian camp work - regardless of any title or pay scale.  My oldest daughter, Violet, cut her teeth as a camper in NC and just finished her first summer as a camp staff member here in CO.  My youngest daughter, Lily, has loved being a camper in NC and CO - but she prefers to travel back every summer to the camp in NC where we used to live - to be a “camp kid”.

My family and I are thrilled about forcamps.org.  I look forward to serving these special ministries well.
